I’m Tia A. Williams, and I learned this the hard way when AI made me invisible for two years by misattributing my work. To fix it, I developed a three-step process to ensure both humans and machines recognize your proven results.

The 3-Step Framework for Engineering Authority

To get AI to recognize and surface your work, you have to move past just "posting content" and start building a recognizable pattern.

  • Step 1: Confirm Your Identity AI needs to know exactly who you are. This requires a consistent name format, bio, and story across every platform. If your identity is fragmented, the system may treat you as several different people, which dilutes your power.

  • Step 2: Clarify Your Expertise Vague claims like "I help businesses grow" make you a generalist in the eyes of a machine. You must be specific about the problems you solve and the outcomes you create. If the system can't classify you, it can't recommend you.

  • Step 3: Build Verifiable Signals AI is not impressed by what you claim once; it is persuaded by what it can confirm across multiple third-party sources. You need "third-party corroboration" (mentions, interviews, podcasts, and guest articles) that link back to your expertise. The system trusts what it can verify more than what you say about yourself.

Why You Can't Ignore AI’s Impact On Authority

Authority is no longer just social; it is mediated by AI. These systems decide what to surface based on signals, and your standing can shift if conflicting data appears.

When your data is scattered with credentials in a PDF, best thinking in a private slide deck, and interviews on disconnected platforms, AI has "low confidence" in your authority.

Low confidence means you don't get surfaced in AI overviews or cited as the definitive choice in "zero-click" results. Because these systems constantly ingest new (and sometimes incorrect) information, you must actively manage these signals to ensure the right version of your expertise is the one people see.

By building this infrastructure, you move from "publishing into the abyss" to being surfaced as the definitive choice in search results.
